Presentation Reflection

      When the first few classes started I was extremely nervous about having to do a presentation for the class even though I wouldn't have to present in front of a whole classroom, I still had to present. Lucky for me, I was put in group 3 which meant I was the last group to present and I was able to see how the other groups presented before my group had to present. Going into this class I didn’t know I could feel so strongly about a class until we had to make our first presentations.

Group 1 was the first to present, although it may be the scariest group to be in at times, your group is the one that sets a standard for the rest of the semester and whether you’re going to get outdone or not. The presentation was amazing, the members of group one filled their presentation with images, charts and graphs which made their entire presentation delightful to the eyes. It showed that they put a lot of effort into the presentation as well because for a group to have been so precise and coordinated without really knowing each other too well was astonishing. While they presented their chapter, they were very informed and it showed that they were not here to play. Their presentation was very clearly based on the reading but not an exact word for word, they were prepared to present and during the presentation they did not seem like they were reading off of a script. It was a wonderful experience, instead of a lecture it felt more like a conversation between the presenter and the class. A great presentation from start to finish.

Group 2 didn’t fail to amaze either, with great visuals and well done research on their topic it was also a very memorable presentation. They talked about communicating in groups and not one of the members' presentations was off, in fact, they all had their own unique flairs. While some of the presentations were filled with visuals and simple sentences, others had more “wordy” presentations. The presentation was all anyone could ask for, everything was very organized and thorough. They had videos and images that really expressed what they were talking about, such as a scene from Madagascar where the penguins work together to hijack a vehicle. I even liked the video that Gianella made about her slides, I found it very interesting. The members were brief and to the point when it came to their slides and they really made sure that everyone one in class knew that they did their research. Like Group 1, for complete strangers to come together and create a presentation so beautifully like group 2 did takes a lot and I honestly admire their group.

As for myself, I was lucky enough to say that I am a part of Group 3. After the first class where we were assigned our groups, we had a quick zoom meeting to discuss who would be doing what for the presentation. Everyone chose what they wanted to do for the presentation in order to make it fair for everyone. While creating the presentation, we all communicated back and forth about certain things and where things should go to make them look as good, clean and organized as possible.

Group 3 had one problem looking at it from an outsider’s perspective, we never really had a leader–we all were the leader in some way, shape, or form. Whenever one of us needed help with our slides, someone would come in and help and make sure that person’s problems were fixed. We all had a way of presenting and creating our slides that felt unique and right for ourselves. None of us forced anyone to do the presentation a certain way because that just doesn’t seem right or fair for anyone. Working in groups sometimes exhausts me, mentally and physically–it’s like a roulette–Sometimes you’ll get a group who just works and fits together like a puzzle piece or you’ll get one that makes your whole experience a living hell. Luckily for me, Group 3 fit just like a puzzle. While looking through the slides, days prior to us presenting, you can really see how each of us think and function when by ourselves. The slides slowly became a nice array of colors when glancing at it. It was filled with fun visuals and videos that unfortunately we couldn’t show cause none of us had a pc that allowed us to do so (until now at least) Being able to see a presentation being worked on from the ground up, you tend to notice a lot of things like how images get added and removed, how people change the theme to match what they’re trying to convey and even how many times someone rewrites the same sentence over and over until they find a perfect way to convey their words. I was fortunate to see how much work and effort my group members put into their slides that not a lot of people get to see when groups are working on their presentations. From the beginning of the presentations until the end I had a big smile on my face because I was able to see all the work that my members did and executed like how they intended their work to be. Being able to see how your members present also allows you to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie. Overall, I am very fortunate to have to be able to work with a talented group of individuals.



Although I am very very biased, Group 1 and 2’s presentations were really really good and I enjoyed them. I am looking forward to viewing their next presentations and also working on the next one with my group as well, as we now can work a lot more closely together than we did before in order to create a project that is a lot better than our first presentation.
